This Monday, August 5, 2024, Haitian Prime Minister Garry Conille took a significant step by publishing the list of members of his private cabinet. This action demonstrates his commitment to transparency and collaboration within the transitional government.
The list of members includes Nesmy Manigat as Chief of Staff, along with eleven other members: Stanley Emmanuel Augustin, Stéphanie Dorsainvil, Anouk Ewald, Enomy Germain, Romero Guy Latry, Sharina Lochard, Bernard H. Gousse, Dr. Nikita Séjour, Mary Elizabeth Bianca Sinsleis, Marie-Christine Stephenson, and Hans Tippenhauer.
Regarding Marie-Christine Stephenson, she had declined her appointment to the Steering Committee of the National Conference in a letter dated July 25 addressed to the President of the Transitional Presidential Council, Edgard Leblanc Fils. She pointed out that this appointment did not comply with the April 3, 2024 agreement, which required consultation with the Prime Minister and stakeholders. She expressed her gratitude and wished the Presidential Council success.
To accompany the publication, the Prime Minister shared a tweet expressing his satisfaction and enthusiasm about the composition of his team. He stated: “I am pleased to present several of my collaborators who are contributing to the development and implementation of the transitional government’s program. Like many others, they are working on security issues, humanitarian crises, justice, elections, national conferences, etc. The ministers will also publish the members of their cabinets.”
Appointed Prime Minister of Haiti on May 28, 2024, by the coordinator of the Transitional Presidential Council, Edgard Leblanc Fils, Garry Conille’s government was officially installed on June 12, 2024. Since its installation, his administration has been striving to enhance security, alleviate humanitarian crises, promote justice, and prepare for upcoming elections. To date, the effects have yet to be felt by the population, which is demanding concrete actions.
The transparency in communicating the names of cabinet members aims to establish a climate of trust and accountability, both within the government and towards Haitian citizens. By encouraging ministers to follow this example, Garry Conille reinforces his government’s commitment to open and collaborative governance.
