Launch of “Nation Tuesdays”: A New Initiative to Strengthen Government Communication in Haiti

Port-au-Prince, Tuesday, January 14, 2025 – This morning, in an ambitious effort to enhance transparency and civic engagement, the President of the Transitional Presidential Council, Mr. Leslie Voltaire, inaugurated the “Nation Tuesdays .” This innovative platform, developed through a collaboration between the Prime Minister’s Office, the Presidency, and the Ministry of Culture and Communication, aims to provide a space for information sharing and dialogue between government authorities and the Haitian population. 

During this inaugural session, President Voltaire shared significant announcements underscoring the government’s commitment to the country’s development. Among the highlights was the confirmation of an official visit by Colombian President Gustavo Petro, scheduled for January 22 in Jacmel. 

This visit will mark the signing of a cooperation agreement between Haiti and Colombia, covering key areas such as trade, education, security, and humanitarian assistance. 

Additionally, the official opening ceremony of the Saint-Louis du Sud Port, a strategic project for Haiti’s economic development, is set for Friday, January 21. The port is expected to play a crucial role in improving the country’s logistical infrastructure and boosting commercial activity. 

The “Nation Tuesdays ” initiative was designed to promote proactive and structured communication, ensuring optimal coordination between government institutions and the media. 

These weekly meetings aim to establish a direct link between the government and citizens, enabling the dissemination of information about the Executive’s projects and achievements while fostering constructive dialogue on national issues. 

This initiative demonstrates the Haitian government’s clear commitment to fostering transparent and participatory governance, making national priorities more accessible to all citizens.
