In response to a troubling surge in violence in Mirebalais, the Haitian National Police (PNH) announced on April 11, 2025, that it has deployed several specialized units to protect the local population. These reinforcements follow repeated attacks by armed groups that have terrorized the city in Haiti’s Central Department.
Director General Rameau Normil has ordered a strong response, issuing clear instructions to local officials to neutralize the criminals. The goal is straightforward: “Track down the perpetrators and restore peace and calm in Mirebalais,” according to an official statement.
In addition to deploying forces on the ground, the PNH has also strengthened its operational capacity by sending combat equipment. This logistical support is intended to ensure greater effectiveness in operations targeting armed groups.
According to a police statement, security forces have already taken positions in strategic areas of the commune and are methodically advancing into the most vulnerable neighborhoods. The strategy is designed to regain control of affected zones without jeopardizing civilian safety.
Through this mobilization, the PNH appears determined not to yield to criminal violence. The institution reaffirmed its mission to protect the population and emphasized its commitment to “restoring order and peace throughout the country.”
