In an official statement, the Prime Minister’s Office expressed deep admiration for Haitian chef Leen Excellent, currently in France, who is undertaking an unprecedented culinary marathon in a bid to earn Haiti a place in the Guinness World Records.
With over 120 hours of continuous cooking, Leen Excellent is showcasing the richness of Haitian cuisine, spotlighting traditional dishes such as riz national, tassot, soupe joumou, and tchaka. “Through each of these dishes, the soul of a people speaks—carrying memory, resilience, and pride,” the statement reads.
The Government sees this performance as a powerful symbolic act—both cultural and identity-affirming—that unites and sparks global engagement around the image of a proud and creative Haiti. It also highlights the vital role of the Haitian diaspora, which has enthusiastically supported the initiative across digital platforms.
In its message, the Haitian government expresses its gratitude to Leen Excellent, praising her as “a figure of excellence, courage, and legacy,” and honoring her commitment, which, in its words, “embodies Haitian creative genius, the strength of Afro-descendant women, and a heritage that cannot be erased.”
