Commissioner Garry Desrosiers was officially introduced on November 6, 2025, as the new spokesperson for the Haitian National Police (HNP) by Inspector General Frantz Lerebours, the institution’s Director of Communications. His return reflects a clear intent to reestablish dialogue with the press at a time when the police force is facing a severe crisis of public confidence.
Desrosiers is already familiar with the inner workings of the HNP, having previously served as spokesperson during major operations, including the announcement of targeted arrests in the Village de Dieu area. His experience in public communication is considered an asset for this new assignment.
Desrosiers’s appointment is part of a broader strategy to rehabilitate the police’s image with both the media and the general public. The HNP is now focusing on a more transparent and effective communication approach—an essential condition for restoring its authority in a climate of widespread mistrust.
