Fritz Alphonse Jean Returns to Haiti After a High-Level Diplomatic Mission in Jamaica

March 28, 2025

The President of the Transitional Presidential Council, Fritz Alphonse Jean, returned to Haiti on Thursday, March 27, 2025, following a diplomatic visit to Jamaica marked by a series of high-level meetings. Accompanied by a delegation of more than ten people, including his close collaborators, he was welcomed upon arrival by his colleague Leslie Voltaire, the de facto Prime Minister Didier Fils-Aimé, and several government officials.

During his stay, Fritz Alphonse Jean held strategic discussions with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Jamaican Prime Minister Andrew Holness, and Barbadian Prime Minister Mia Mottley. His meeting with Marco Rubio was particularly scrutinized, as it represented a key step in the discussions on U.S. support for Haiti’s political transition.

Talks focused on security, governance, and short-term stabilization measures for the country. These discussions took place as Haiti seeks to mobilize more effective international support in response to the severity of the crisis.

This visit was part of a broader effort to strengthen relations with regional and international partners, as the country faces significant security and economic challenges. Fritz Alphonse Jean’s return to Haiti now paves the way for the implementation of the commitments made during these diplomatic exchanges.
