Former deputy Arnel Bélizaire released

July 3, 2026

Former deputy for Delmas/Tabarre, Arnel Bélizaire, was released this Thursday, July 2, by decision of investigating judge Loubens Élysée. This measure came following his hearing as part of the investigation opened against him.

Arrested last March, the former parliamentarian was prosecuted on charges of financing terrorism and conspiracy against the internal security of the state. His arrest had sparked numerous reactions within the political class and public opinion.

The judge’s decision to release him does not, however, put an end to the judicial proceedings. The authorities have not communicated additional details on the continuation of the investigation or on any measures that might be taken in this case.
