FBI Removes Vitelhomme from “Most Wanted” List but Continues Active Pursuit

February 22, 2026

Removed from the most wanted list, Vitelhomme remains under pursuit.

Since late January 2026, confusion has surrounded the situation of Vitelhomme Innocent after a publication wrongly attributed his arrest. This mention, linked to a communication by FBI Director Kash Patel, raised numerous questions about a possible apprehension by U.S. authorities.

An article in the Miami Herald, published on February 19, 2026, provides important clarification. The FBI confirmed that he no longer meets the criteria justifying his presence on the Ten Most Wanted Fugitives list, despite the $2 million reward offered for his capture.

According to federal authorities, one of the determining criteria for the list is the need for high media visibility to facilitate an arrest. However, Vitelhomme Innocent has reportedly already been located in Haiti, making this communication tool less relevant for investigators.

The FBI emphasizes, however, that this removal does not mark an abandonment or closure of the case. Investigations are ongoing.
