Double Assassination in Delmas 41: Businessman and Wife Killed by Armed Violence

May 10, 2025

On the morning of May 6, 2025, businessman Bazelais Renfort and his wife Christine Renfort were riddled with bullets while driving in their vehicle in Delmas 41. The couple, known for their electronics store TECO located in Delmas 33, was ambushed without warning by heavily armed individuals.

The attack occurred while they were in a Toyota vehicle registered AA-49933, at the corner of Delmas 41 and 49. An injured child and another passenger, known as Tonny, were also in the car. “The child, seriously wounded, was rushed to the hospital,” confirmed a witness, while a justice of the peace arrived at 9:07 a.m. to record the facts.

This latest tragedy underscores the dire security situation in Haiti, where criminal gangs now control over 80% of the Port-au-Prince metropolitan area. Despite government promises of intervention, attacks on civilians continue to rise, leaving the population vulnerable and exposed to unchecked violence.
