On Monday, August 5, 2024, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs transmitted several essential documents to the Prime Minister’s office for the reform of Haitian diplomacy. These proposals aim to modernize and structure the country’s diplomatic and consular practices.
Among the documents is a decree reforming Haitian diplomacy, a decree creating the Order of Arts and Letters, and a draft decree to organize and define the functioning of the ministry. These initiatives reflect a desire to make the ministry more efficient and transparent.
Additionally, a decree was presented for the creation and organization of the Jean Price Mars Diplomatic Academy, intended to train and perfect Haitian diplomats. Draft decrees concerning the diplomatic and consular career, the issuance and use of diplomatic and official passports were also included in these documents, thus completing these necessary reforms.
These documents illustrate the government’s commitment to strengthening institutional capacities and promoting a more proactive diplomacy. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs thus reaffirms its dedication to improving the management of international affairs and ensuring effective representation of Haiti on the world stage.
