IDB grants $69 million to transform Les Cayes airport

June 26, 2026

The Board of Directors of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) has approved non-reimbursable financing of up to $69 million U.S. dollars for Haiti. The funds will be used to modernize Les Cayes airport and strengthen transport infrastructure in the country’s Greater South region.

This project aims to improve connectivity in this strategic region by facilitating the movement of people and goods. Authorities hope that these investments will also help stimulate economic activities and create new development opportunities.

The improvement of Les Cayes airport is expected to increase its operational capacity and meet growing demand for air transportation. According to information reported by Le Nouvelliste on June 24, 2026, this initiative is part of a broader effort to modernize the country’s essential infrastructure.
