The Haitian National Police (PNH) announced, this Monday, June 1, 2026, the recovery of the bodies of three police officers and one civilian who had lost their lives on May 29 in Carrefour-Robert, in the Artibonite department. This operation was carried out by specialized units deployed in the region.
According to the police institution, the victims died while a major intervention was underway against armed groups described as terrorists, responsible for persistent insecurity in the department. Authorities emphasize that the recovery of the bodies was made possible through the sustained efforts of specialized units and the support of citizen coalition forces mobilized on the ground.
The PNH High Command paid tribute to the three officers who fell in the line of duty, saluting their courage and sacrifice in service to the nation. The institution also extended condolences to the bereaved families and the victims’ colleagues.
The PNH asserts, however, that this loss will not slow its operations in Artibonite. It indicates that significant reinforcements have already been deployed to intensify the hunt for armed groups, neutralize their remaining strongholds, and durably restore security in the department.
