Cholera: 112 Suspected Cases and 2 Deaths Reported During the 40th Epidemiological Week

October 20, 2025

The Ministry of Public Health and Population (MSPP in French) has reported 112 suspected cases of cholera, including 10 confirmed cases, for the 40th epidemiological week of 2025. According to the latest report, 43 people were hospitalized, and two community deaths were recorded, with no fatalities reported within healthcare institutions.

The communes of Delmas, Cité-Soleil, and Pétion-Ville are currently on red alert due to the rapid increase in cases. “Our teams are prioritizing interventions in high-risk areas to contain any spread,” stated an MSPP official.

Health authorities have carried out targeted interventions in 13 localities, where 233 sites were decontaminated. Aquatabs tablets were distributed alongside mass awareness campaigns and water treatment efforts, in coordination with DINEPA and MSPP partners.

The current strategy focuses on strengthening epidemiological surveillance and promoting preventive measures. “We remain determined to protect the population and to ensure the rapid treatment of every reported case,” the Ministry affirmed, reiterating its call for citizen vigilance in the face of the persistent threat of cholera.
