Liancourt, July 22, 2025 — At least two officers of the Departmental Unit for Law Enforcement (UDMO) were brutally executed on Tuesday in the town of Liancourt, following a clash with heavily armed members of the Gran Grif gang. Trapped and left to fend for themselves for several hours, the officers were killed and their service vehicle set on fire, despite repeated calls for help that went unanswered.
Gruesome images circulating on social media show the victims’ mutilated bodies being dragged across the ground by the assailants — a chilling display meant to reinforce the gang’s grip on the region. The double execution adds to a long and bloody list of attacks on law enforcement in the Artibonite Valley, now largely under the control of armed groups.
Public outrage is mounting in response to yet another blatant show of state failure. So far, no official statement has been issued. Neither Minister of the Interior Paul Antoine Bien-Aimé nor Police Chief Normil Rameau has commented on what appears to be a public execution of state agents.
The Gran Grif gang has claimed responsibility for the assault through propaganda videos, boasting of their “victory” over an increasingly paralyzed state. On this dark Tuesday, the Republic seems to slide even deeper into chaos, as its symbols of authority are trampled with impunity.
