Wanted Notices Issued By The DCPJ Target Prominent Political Figures

February 6, 2026

The Haitian National Police issued wanted notices on Thursday against Port-au-Prince’s interim mayor, Youri Ralph Chevry; former lawmaker Arnel Bélizaire; and citizen Smith Joseph. This decision marks a new phase in an investigation that authorities describe as particularly sensitive.

According to the Central Directorate of the Judicial Police (DCPJ), the individuals are suspected of involvement in serious offenses, including terrorism financing, attacks, and conspiracy against state security. These charges are compounded by criminal association, while Smith Joseph also faces charges of money laundering.

Investigators indicated that the proceedings are part of an ongoing case but declined to disclose the factual elements that led to the issuance of the wanted notices. This discretion has contributed to a climate of heightened political and security tension in the capital.

The DCPJ recalled that Youri Chevry’s residence in Canapé-Vert had already been searched twice as part of the investigation. Authorities are urging the public to provide any useful information to facilitate the arrest of the wanted individuals.
