A delegation from the US Senate staff, accompanied by Ambassador Henry Wooster, visited Port-au-Prince from June 26 to 28 to meet with transitional government officials, international partners, the Haitian National Police (HNP), and the Multinational Security Support (MSS) mission. This mission reflects the United States’ clear commitment to maintaining direct involvement in efforts to stabilize the country.
During the meetings, the American representatives reiterated their pledge to “mobilize global support to help Haitians fight against the terrorist gangs threatening to destabilize the nation.” Coordination with local and international actors was central to the discussions, highlighting the urgent need for structured support of national security.
This visit symbolizes Washington’s political will to assist Haiti in reclaiming its territory and restoring peace. It also demonstrates a US diplomacy attentive to on-the-ground realities, aiming to strengthen key institutions through an active partnership.
