Twelve Days After His Kidnapping, the AJH Demands the Release of Wesly Renaud Jean

October 5, 2026

The Association of Haitian Journalists (AJH) is raising its voice against the prolonged captivity of journalist Wesly Renaud Jean, kidnapped nearly twelve days ago. In a note published on September 17, the organization states that it shares the pain of his family and the growing concern of his colleagues.

For the AJH, every additional hour spent without news of the journalist constitutes a further ordeal for his loved ones and the entire profession. The association strongly condemns this kidnapping and believes that violence must not turn press freedom into another victim of insecurity.

The organization also calls on journalists to reinforce their solidarity in the face of threats weighing on the profession. It invites members of the media to remain mobilized and determined until the release of Wesly Renaud Jean, while expressing its support for his family.

Finally, the AJH demands the immediate release of the journalist so he can rejoin his family after these twelve days of anguish. It thus reaffirms its determination to maintain pressure on this matter and not let the kidnapping of its colleague fall into oblivion.
