Tragedy in Kenscoff: Two Police Officers Killed in Explosive Drone Attack

August 22, 2025

A tragedy struck the SWAT unit of the National Police this Tuesday in Kenscoff. According to the first official reports, a kamikaze drone carried by local residents exploded, killing two police officers and seriously injuring two others.

In a statement, Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé, who is also President of the Superior Council of the National Police (CSPN in French), paid tribute to the officers, honoring “their courage, dedication, and sacrifice.” He stressed that these men and women “embody the authority and sovereignty of the State.”

The Prime Minister’s Office declared that the State will not leave this tragedy unanswered. “All necessary measures will be taken to protect our police officers, strengthen national security, and affirm without ambiguity the authority of the State,” the statement read.

On the side of the Haitian National Police (HNP), top command immediately mobilized. Officers went to the scene and to the victims’ bedside, while significant emergency resources were deployed.

The HNP confirmed that an investigation has been opened to determine the exact circumstances of the explosion. “The Command is taking all necessary measures to continue ensuring security in Kenscoff,” its communications office stated.

Authorities are calling for national unity in the face of this new ordeal. “The entire Nation stands behind its law enforcement,” the Prime Minister’s Office emphasized, reaffirming that their fight is, above all, the fight of the Republic.
