Haiti’s judicial system has undergone significant changes with the appointment and transfer of several government commissioners. These reforms, announced by Justice Minister Patrick Pélissier, aim to enhance the efficiency of judicial institutions across various regions of the country. Among the key appointments, Jean Michel Augustin has been named the new Government Commissioner for Port-au-Prince, replacing Lionel Constant Bourgouin, who has been reassigned to Jacmel.
Lionel Constant Bourgouin, who previously held the strategic position of Government Commissioner in Port-au-Prince, has been transferred to Jacmel. This move represents a new chapter in his career, where he is expected to bring his expertise to the Southeast Department. Meanwhile, Guy Alexis has been appointed as the Government Commissioner for the jurisdiction of Croix-des-Bouquets, a rapidly growing region requiring optimized judicial services.
Charles Edouard Durand, who had been serving as the interim Government Commissioner in Cap-Haïtien, has now been officially confirmed in his role. His appointment to the “Christophian City” jurisdiction is intended to bolster stability in the Northern Department. These nominations align with Justice Minister Pélissier’s broader plan to modernize and adapt the judicial system to current challenges in Haiti’s complex national context.
