Specialized forces raided Youry Chevry’s residence in Debrosse on Friday, launching an operation that lasted several hours and involved the Research and Intervention Brigade. Access was forced, the gate damaged, and a guard dog shot during the agents’ advance.
Inside, investigators conducted a thorough search before leaving the premises without arresting the former interim executive agent of Port-au-Prince. Three firearms attributed to members of his security detail were nevertheless seized, according to corroborating sources.
Chevry, who was present in the house during the operation, declined to answer journalists’ questions after the DCPJ’s departure. Those close to him describe a tense atmosphere, heightened by the agents’ forceful intrusion.
The police presence quickly drew several supporters, who gathered near the residence to show their support. Their mobilization added a political dimension to an intervention already marked by an imposing security deployment.
