The incident, which occurred during a political meeting at the El Rancho Hotel on Saturday, represents a serious breach of democratic principles and gender equality in public spaces.
In commending the resilience and courage of Mrs. Michel in the face of this intimidation, Mouvman Fanm EDE underscores that such acts of violence against a committed woman extend beyond personal attack. They signify a broader threat to democratic progress and a violation of women’s fundamental rights in politics—an intolerable situation for a society striving for justice and equality.
The movement strongly condemns all forms of violence, especially those aimed at silencing women in the political arena.
