Since April 7, 2025, Haitian chef Leen Excellent has been taking on an extraordinary challenge in Saint-Denis: cooking non-stop for eight days—192 hours—in a bid to break the world record for continuous cooking, currently held by Nigerian chef Hilda Baci at 100 hours.
Operating under the strict guidelines of Guinness World Records, Leen is allowed just five minutes of rest per hour. A monitoring team is in place to ensure the authenticity and smooth execution of her attempt.
Under the slogan “Goute m, w ap renmen m” (“Taste me, you’ll love me”), she has turned her kitchen into a vibrant stage, blending Haitian flavors, emotions, and Caribbean culture. She proudly represents Afro-descendant resilience and creativity through her culinary artistry.
The effort has garnered strong support, with numerous partners and a growing online audience cheering her on via TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, and Facebook. Haitian artists like Bélo and K-Lib have shown up in person, and the online Haitian community has raised funds to back the endeavor.
Beyond aiming for a historic record, Leen Excellent hopes to inspire young chefs to pursue their dreams and push the boundaries of gastronomy. Her journey is both a celebration of Haitian identity and an invitation to savor excellence
