The body of a Haitian citizen was found in an irrigation canal in Villa González, Santiago Province, following a chase involving the National Police and the Dominican Army. The incident occurred on Saturday while the victim was riding a motorcycle with another man.

According to relatives of the deceased, the two Haitian nationals allegedly tried to flee upon seeing the officers, fearing deportation. During the chase, a police patrol reportedly struck the motorcycle, causing both men to fall.

One of the fugitives died instantly, while the other survived. The lifeless body was recovered from the canal by Civil Protection officials before being transferred to the National Institute of Forensic Sciences (INACIF) in Santiago.

So far, the Dominican National Police has not released an official statement on the matter. Sources close to law enforcement deny any direct involvement by the officers, while an investigation is underway to determine the exact circumstances of the tragedy.
