Haïti Métal S.A., a cornerstone of national production for 75 years, has announced the total suspension of its operations following a series of violent attacks targeting its staff and facilities. In a statement released on October 14, 2025, the company expressed deep gratitude to the Haitian public for their trust and support over the decades.
The company particularly lamented the kidnapping of several administrative and technical staff members, as well as the tragic murder of its operations director, which occurred in front of her four-year-old daughter. “The Lord gave… The Lord has taken away,” the statement quoted, reflecting both pain and resignation in the face of what it described as a “national catastrophe.”
According to the release, the production site located in Thor 65, in the commune of Carrefour, was attacked and looted despite being in an area once considered “calm and secure.” “After being extorted, our facilities are now stripped bare,” the company denounced, indirectly accusing certain national leaders of inaction and a lack of vision.
Haïti Métal warned that such violence endangers not only jobs but also one of the country’s few enduring examples of industrial success. “It is important for all of us to recognize the value and significance of what has been built before destroying it,” the statement emphasized, calling for collective awareness.
Nevertheless, the company reaffirmed its faith in Haiti’s future and its commitment to domestic production, which it described as “the only path to the nation’s development.” Despite the tragedy, the management vowed not to yield to discouragement, concluding on a hopeful note: “These reckless acts will not destroy our courage or our confidence in Haiti’s future.”
