Lovemika Petit-Frère, a little girl from the Port-au-Prince metropolitan area, died on Wednesday, October 1, 2025 after being struck in the head by a stray bullet. She had spent several days in intensive care in the hope of being saved.
According to Christie Luca, president of the organization OCCED’H, Lovemika was playing peacefully at home when the projectile hit her. She collapsed from the impact and was immediately taken to the hospital by her family.
Doctors made repeated efforts to stabilize her condition and considered surgery to remove the bullet. Unfortunately, despite all attempts, the child died in the early hours of the morning.
Christie Luca expressed deep sorrow over this tragic loss and denounced the surge in armed violence affecting children. “We must put an end to the weapons that are destroying too many innocent lives,” she insisted, calling on society to respond.
