The government, through the Ministry of Culture and Communication, has made public the official provisions governing Carnival 2026. This announcement is addressed to the population, cultural actors, the media, as well as national and international partners.
The chosen theme, “Ayiti Devan! Haïti Devant!”, is presented as the expression of a collective will for progress and self-transcendence. According to the MCC, it embodies “the determination of the Haitian people to move forward” and to project a positive image of the nation.
Cultural authorities emphasize that this choice highlights the country’s creativity, resilience, and cultural richness. The theme is also intended as a strong signal in favor of valuing Haitian identity in a context of national rebuilding.
The official launch of carnival activities is set for Sunday, January 18, 2026. From that date, pre-carnival events will be organized in several localities to “energize the festive and cultural spirit.”
Recalling that Carnival is one of the country’s most emblematic cultural events, the Ministry calls for general mobilization. It invites institutions, carnival participants, citizens, and visitors to make Carnival 2026 “a national celebration of sharing, creativity, and rebuilding.”
