Armored Vehicles of the Multinational Force in Haiti Remain Unused Due to Security Concerns

April 3, 2025

Around twenty armored vehicles provided by the United States to the multinational force in Haiti have remained parked and unused since last weekend. This immobilization follows an incident in which a projectile pierced one of the armored vehicles, injuring a Kenyan police officer in the ear.

Officers within the multinational force have voiced their dissatisfaction with the quality of the equipment provided. They plan to meet with U.S. authorities to address concerns regarding these armored vehicles.

This situation arises as the United States recently delivered nine additional armored vehicles and 600 rifles to the Haitian National Police to support anti-gang operations. As a result, the reliability of the equipment remains a crucial issue for the ongoing stabilization mission.
