Arcahaie Overrun by Gangs: Two Dead and Residents Flee

October 22, 2024

At least two people were killed in Arcahaie on Monday, October 21, 2024, during a violent raid carried out by gangs from Canaan and Village de Dieu. According to eyewitnesses, the attackers, bolstered by members of the “Viv Ansanm” coalition led by Jeff Gwo Lwa and Izo 5 Segond, assaulted the town by land and sea, spreading terror among the residents.

The sound of heavy gunfire prompted many locals to flee, as the town’s resistance proved insufficient against the onslaught.

The areas of Williamson, Luly, and Bercy have been the primary targets of these criminals, leaving the already exhausted population hoping that the Haitian National Police (PNH) can regain control of the situation.

Despite efforts by the people of Arcahaie to defend their community, law enforcement was unable to contain the attack in time, adding Arcahaie to the growing list of areas slipping out of the control of the Haitian state.
