Arcahaie: A City Threatened by Armed Gangs

October 14, 2024

On Thursday, October 10, 2024, heavily armed gangs launched an attack on the city of Arcahaie, located in the West department, raising increasing concerns among the local population. This critical situation is driving residents to urgently seek help from the police authorities.

During an interview on Radio Television Caraïbes (RTVC), members of the Arcahaie community voiced their fears that their city could fall completely under the control of criminal groups.

According to several reports, the armed gangs have managed to break through resistance points organized by the local population in the area of Bercy, putting the town under pressure. Residents have reported that several houses were set on fire by the criminals, further exacerbating the crisis.

This attack comes amid a surge in violence in the region. Just the previous week, gangs struck Pont Sondé, resulting in a tragic toll of over one hundred deaths. The Arcahaie community, still traumatized by this bloody episode, now fears that their city could be the next to fall under the control of these criminals.

Faced with this growing threat, citizens are urgently calling on the authorities to deploy police reinforcements. They hope the state will quickly take action to protect the “City of the Flag” and restore a semblance of security to this increasingly unstable area.
