Alix Didier Fils-Aimé suspends public subsidies ten days before the end of the CPT’s mandate

February 1, 2026

Less than ten days before the end of the Transitional Presidential Council’s mandate, Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé has banned the granting of subsidies within the public administration, except with special authorization. The measure, announced in a circular dated January 27, requires strict compliance by all authorizing officers.

The Prime Minister justified the decision by the need to preserve budgetary discipline and avoid uncontrolled spending as February 7, 2026 approaches. Subsidies may therefore be disbursed only with an explicit exemption, signaling tighter oversight in the Transitional Presidential Council’s final days.

This suspension comes amid a delicate transition, during which the management of public funds is under close scrutiny ahead of the handover to the next administration. The Prime Minister called for vigilance and full compliance by all officials to ensure financial stability during this critical period.
