In an operation conducted by the Haitian National Police (HNP) on October 30 in Pétion-Ville, Jean-Renel Pierre, a member of the presidential security unit, was apprehended for alleged involvement in an arms trafficking network.
Pierre, a graduate of the HNP’s 21st cohort, was arrested as he approached a vehicle used by an individual known as “Muler,” a suspected member of the “Krache Dife” gang, who was reportedly preparing to make a bank transaction.
Police closely monitored the bank area where the suspicious transaction was set to take place. Upon arresting Pierre, a meticulous search of the vehicle uncovered significant materials, including 237,000 gourdes, several mobile phones, a 9mm pistol, over 2,600 rounds of various calibers, high-visibility vests, and a tactical knife. This evidence deepens the charges against Pierre and his alleged accomplices.
Simultaneously, the HNP expanded its investigation, detaining additional suspects across various locations in the capital. Among them were Josué Henry and Marc Donald Louis, intercepted respectively at Clercine, and with an arms shipment. Others, including Desius and Lucien Thomas, are also under suspicion for arms trafficking and conspiracy. The Central Directorate of the Judicial Police (DCPJ) is intensifying its efforts to dismantle this arms supply network, which continues to destabilize the nation.
