The Port-au-Prince Court of Appeal ordered, on Monday, October 26, 2026, that businessman Marc Antoine Acra and four other defendants be referred to the criminal court without a jury for international drug trafficking.
This decision falls within the framework of the Manzanares vessel case, aboard which the Anti-Drug Trafficking Brigade (BLTS) discovered 108 kilograms of cocaine and 15 kilograms of heroin in April 2015.
The Court also recommended that the prosecutor’s office examine the possibility of initiating new proceedings against individuals and companies linked to the ordering, loading, transport, and unloading operations of sugar.
This recommendation comes while the results of the international rogatory commission were still unavailable, according to information provided regarding the case file.
