New Era at the PNH: Paraison Promises Relentless Fight Against Gangs

August 13, 2025

Jonas Vladimir Paraison was officially installed on Friday, August 8, as acting Director General of the Haitian National Police (HNP). Thanking the Presidential Councilors for the trust placed in him, he stated: “We will restore security throughout the national territory, particularly in the departments of the West, Center, and Artibonite.”

Succeeding Normil Rameau, who led the institution for more than a year, Paraison inherits a complex security situation. He clearly announced that “all gang members will be pursued, hunted down, arrested, and brought to justice.”

The new head of the HNP also promised to implement targeted measures to combat armed gangs. He intends to strengthen operations in the most affected areas, with the goal of restoring peace and public trust.
