The former Director General of the National Old-Age Insurance Office (ONA), Jemley Marc Jean-Baptiste, was arrested on Friday, February 7, 2025, by order of Investigating Judge Loubens Élysée. The decision was made following his hearing in an investigation into embezzlement of public assets and abuse of authority. His arrest follows a damning report from the Anti-Corruption Unit (ULCC), which uncovered serious irregularities during his administration.
Other senior officials of the institution are also implicated in the case. Frantz Lubin, the current financial director, and Edwidge Jean, portfolio director, have been questioned by the judiciary.
