
A security operation carried out by the Haitian National Police (HNP) in Mazerre, in the commune of Quartier-Morin, resulted in the deaths of three armed individuals on Saturday, March 7. The intervention took place around 12:30 p.m. as investigators from the Northern Departmental Judicial Police Service were accompanying a land surveying mission in the area.
According to information provided by the HNP, officers were on site with Adoram St Fleurant and surveyor Fedenel Jemelus to ensure the security of the operation. Upon their arrival, heavily armed men reportedly opened fire, triggering an exchange of gunfire with law enforcement.
At the end of the confrontation, three assailants, who have not yet been identified, were fatally shot. The local justice of the peace, Dieula Benjamin, represented by court clerk Eddy Piere, went to the scene to carry out the legal findings required by procedure.
The operation also led to the seizure of several weapons and munitions, including a 9mm pistol, a .38 Magnum revolver with serial numbers removed, as well as cartridges of various calibers and a speed loader. Authorities indicated that these items will be analyzed as part of the judicial follow-up to the incident.
